About Us
Our Story
The Chapa Chicken Ranch is a family run sourdough bakery based in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. From the very first loaf to the most recent, we set out with the intention of making good sourdough bread. We start with flour water and salt and add in quality ingredients to achieve flavor combinations that complement meals as well as shine on their own.
We have several main staples that are consistently offered, as well as a variety of items that change weekly. Our staples include Rustic, Jalapeño Cheddar, Garlic Rosemary, Buttermilk, and Honey Chocolate Chip bread. You can find flavors like Everything But The Bagel, Pear Gorgonzola, Maple Pecan, and Spicy Mango among an ever increasing list of rotating flavors. Our newest non-bread menu items include sourdough crackers, tortillas, and cookies!
Our sourdough bakery began in in our Texas Kitchen in 2020 and moved with us to Idaho in 2022. We began selling sourdough at the Deep Creek Farmstand and every other weekend at the Bonners Ferry Farmers Market in 2023, and were able to increase our capacity to allow us to be at the farmers market every weekend in 2024.
In September of 2024 we moved into our first brick and mortar location at 6387 Kootenai St. We have been able to offer intimate classes teaching people the basics of making their own sourdough bread, as well as continuing to add new flavors and items to our menu. We have partnered with several local businesses that offer our bread as a compliment to their menu and we look forward to expanding these partnerships in our community as our bakery continues to grow.
Each loaf that leaves our bakery is like an opportunity to join a meal. And our small, but mighty, kitchen has allowed us to join over 200 meals with our neighbors each week. We are excited about this next year and hope to be able to offer more sourdough classes and to continue to expand our menu as we grow with our neighbors and our community.
